Employer paying?

Ask your manager to pay for it

Many employers pay for learning that helps you do your job. A manager usually says yes when the request is short and answers four questions. Here are the four questions, a note you can send, and the ways an employer can pay.

Get the noteSee the six options
Before you ask

What your manager will want to know

01 Why

The work it helps

Name one task or project it applies to: a negotiation coming up, a contract you manage, a category you are taking on.

02 Cost

The full price

One figure, in Australian dollars. GST is added for Australian buyers only.

03 Time

When you will study

Every course is self-paced and shows its study time, so you can say how many hours and by what date.

04 Proof

How they can check

Each course ends with a certificate that records the CPD hours. Your employer can verify it online at any time.

The note

Fill in the gaps and send it

Replace the highlighted parts. Keep it this short: a manager can approve it from their phone.

Hi [name],

I would like to take [course or program] from the Academy of Procurement. It supports my work on [specific task or project].

It is online and self-paced. I plan to complete it by [date], about [hours] hours of study, and apply it to [project].

The total cost is [amount] in Australian dollars. The Academy sends a tax invoice, to me or straight to you.

When I finish I will send you my certificate, which you can verify online, and a short note on what I have applied.

Thanks,
[your name]

Paying

How your employer can pay

  • You pay and claim it back. We send you a tax invoice when you enrol, with your company name on it if you ask.
  • Your employer pays. Tell us who is paying when you enrol, and we send the tax invoice to them.
  • Five or more people. That is a team: we quote for the group and invoice against a purchase order. Talk to us about your team.
Questions

What managers ask

Is it a recognised qualification?

The Academy is not a registered training organisation, and our certificates and Diploma are not nationally recognised qualifications. Each course earns an Academy of Procurement certificate with CPD hours, set under our published CPD policy.

How do I know they finished?

Each completed course earns a digital certificate with its own ID, which you can verify online at any time.

Who wrote the courses?

Practising procurement consultants at Comprara, the consultancy the Academy is part of. They are the people who lead our workshops.

Can the membership be cancelled?

Yes. It is an ongoing subscription, billed monthly or every six months, and it can be cancelled at any time.

I want this for my whole team.
